Fostering with HUNAH
About Fostering
HUNAH is a foster-based rescue, which means the number of dogs we can help is limited by the number of foster homes we have available. Currently, we have a network of foster homes throughout Oregon and Washington (and a few in Idaho) where the dogs are placed temporarily until we can find a new loving and appropriate permanent home for them.

We could not find loving homes for these rescues without the help of each and every person who fosters them. We want to THANK YOU for taking on this very much needed task!!
We rely on our foster homes to help us place as many dogs as possible each year. Because we have no permanent shelter facility, our foster program is key to our organization’s success. Becoming a foster parent is an exceptionally rewarding and fun way to volunteer.

If you are interested in helping to change a life, HUNAH will make sure you have all the tools you need to successfully foster one of our dogs. All of our foster homes are pre-screened to ensure we find a good fit for you and our dogs as well. It is extremely important that each dog be matched with the right home/people. Therefore, we need to know some background information about you and your living situation in order to make the best fit!

Once a foster dog is placed with you in your home, some amount of time will be necessary for you to gain an understanding of the dog's personality, activity level, and other characteristics. This will help us write up a bio on the dog when we post him/her for adoption. You will also need to take photos of the dog so that they can be posted. An adoption coordinator will be assigned to your dog. This is the person you will be communicating with. The coordinator will be responsible for posting your dog, screening applicants, and connecting the approved applicant to you so that a "meet and greet" can be scheduled.
